Okay so I did this one last year but it got quite a few hits and hopefully made some good points... Here they are:

1. Always meet up with the person who will be there on the day. - You need to feel relaxed with the person who is filming your wedding and that person should know exactly what you are looking for in your wedding video.

2. View examples of previous work. - Ask for a showreel, your wedding video supplier should be proud to show off their work.

3. Choose your music wisely. - The music you choose really affects the whole feel of your video, and a good mix of upbeat music and softer romantic songs can make the difference between a video that is entertaining to watch and one that will sit on a shelf.

4. Speak to your registrars/church. - Nowadays most churches and registrars are fine with people filming your wedding. But some churches only allow one camera and have strict rules as to where that person can stand. If there are going to be any issues, it's better to find them out before your wedding rather than on the day. Some churches also charge for the privilege of having your service filmed, make sure you find out before the day.

5. Don't leave it until the last minute to book. Summer weekends especially get booked up early. If you've already left it late it's still worth a try, but booking as early as possible will give you the best choice of wedding videographers.

6. Don't worry about feeling self conscious on film. There's so much else going on that you won't even notice the camera on the day.

7. Do give your videographer a detailed itinerary so they know the times and order of your Big Day, and if either of you are planning a surprise for the other, let your videographer know in advance.

8. Don't take the risk of using an amateur to record one of the most important days of your life. Chances are you'll regret it when you watch the result. Good equipment, planning and knowledge of cinematography is needed to capture those special moments and make them look fantastic.

9. Do see the video as an investment - the flowers, the cake, the dress and so many other details you'll have spent so much time and money on are just for the day, but you will enjoy your video for years to come.

10. Visit http://www.thebigdayproductions.co.uk/ and Book The Big Day Productions to film your wedding!

11. (Bonus tip) Don't be fooled by flashy titles and heavy use of special effects, (unless you like that sort of thing!)

My final piece of advice is to make sure you do have a wedding video, there are some great companies out there who are making beautiful wedding videos. Do your research like you would with any other supplier and above all have a great wedding day!
