Warning Regarding Purchasing Dresses From Diydress.co.uk Warning Regarding Purchasing Dresses From Diydress.co.uk

I recently ordered a mother of the bride dress from diydress.co.uk. I had never bought from them before but after a few checks I decided that as it was a uk website and the reviews I could find at the time were all positive.

I ordered the dress on 10 May 2013 and sat week it arrived. To say I was disappointed was an understatement. The dress was 2 sizes too small and was the wrong colour.

I contacted diydress straight away and presumed because of the vast difference between the size chart and the dress the problem would be rectified straight away. How wrong could anyone be. First of all they blamed me for ordering the wrong size and colour dress. Then they said the size chart had been changed while my dress was being made.

They eventually offered me a £10 refund to get the dress professionally altered from a size 20 to a 24. I'm not sure what world they live in but no self respecting tailor or dress maker would eve attempt such a job without further material which they said they did not have.

They have gave one excuse after the other and when they no longer want to speak to you via live chat or email, they just cut you off.

I spent all day yesterday to find that Scamadvisor.com as advised that diydress should'nt be trusted as a vast majority of their customers are unhappy and have been sent goods that are not fit for purpose. When you try to complain they cut you off. If you try to eave a negative comment they delete it.

I have now created a Facebook page where ex customers can log their complaint and I will forward the comments and complaints to Trading Standards.

I wanted to warn your readers not to buy anything from this website. They use a uk web address in an attempt to try and mislead UK customers. Once bought, they will be left with a pile of rubbish which is not fit to wear. I ordered the brown dress in pearl pink which looks like an antique pink on the website. The pink dress s what they sent.

The measurements are supposed to be bust 51inches, waist 44 inches and hips 53 inches. As you can see the dress actually measures bust 44inches, waist 38 inches and hips 50 inches.

Prom dress

I too ordered a dress for my granddaughter for her school Prom. As above the dress measured 32" instead of 36". I have been offered £10 to have it altered or if I sent them £20 they would send another piece of material for me to get a tailor to insert. As I had to pay £17.50 customs on top of the £135 to have the dress made to measure I do not think I should be paying anything else out. They have now offered me £5 when I asked for a complete refund.
I too thought they were based in the UK otherwise I would not have touched them with a barge pole.
Beware if you are thinking of ordering from them - asking for problems and disappointment and nothing to show for it. .

Diydress disaster

I too ordered a custom made dress, receiving a 32' instead of 37' and sleeve holes fit for for a child! Totally disgusted as I paid £104.99 plus £36 for customs. They won't refund and offer pathetic deals... Extra material - I am not a tailor, discount on next order- that's not going to ever happen, £30- really?!
Unbelievable how they treat customers and don't take accountability and do not comply with their own policy

Refund

Hi,

Diydress never refund, despite their website saying they do.
You need to get in touch with your bank and ask them to raise a dispute with either Visa or MasterCard, which ever one supports your debit/ credit card,

You also need to ask them to refund your money via the chargeback scheme. They will ask you for copies of invoices, receipts, correspondence photographs etc. They may all ask you to return the dress and provide them with a copy of proof of postage. Most of this can be one on line.

Take a look at diydress reviews on Facebook. Two of our members received a refund today.

Wedding dress disaster

Hi,
I ordered a wedding dress from them and it's a disaster its torn, the wrong colour and extremely creased it looks dreadful to be honest. Could you please post the link to your facebook page.

HiI have just received my

Hi

I have just received my wedding dress from diydress.co.uk and it has got a tear in the heavy lace at the front of it. I am devastated and extremely stressed as my wedding day is only 2 weeks away. I have contacted diydress.co.uk and all they can suggest is £10.00 refund!!

diydress.co.uk

I'm so sorry you are having problems with diydress.

I'm afraid they will not refund or exchange your dresses despite what their website says.
The only thing you can do is to take plenty of photographs of the dress and the faults and compare your dress with the website picture. Keep all email correspondence, keep copies of your order form, take a copy of the size chart.

You will then need to make a chargeback claim with your bank or whoever issued the card you used to pay for the dress. Be prepared for a fight and be prepared for email abuse from diydress who will say you are wrong and you are stealing from them. But please do not let them get away with your money.

Diydress.co.uk have been reported to Action fraud, Watchdog and Trading Standards but before tgey act they need many more people like yourselves to report them.

If you need support please take a look at Facebook page diydress reviews.

Yet another story of bad dresses and bad service

I want you advise you all to avoid www.diydress.co.uk as their customer service is appalling and their dress quality is mediocre at best.

Whilst some people may not mind when a dress arrives and its the wrong colour, whether a silver panel turns out to be gold and when zips don't zip and its simply too large - i would personally choose to return it.

However they are fighting every step of the way to get this defective item returned. They are not based in this country despite the .co.uk so expect emails to be responded to overnight.

The best solution they have offered is to build a new dress as the problems I have are "tiny" --- You're telling me the colour of a dress can be fixed easily ???

Simple AVOID DIYDRESS at ALL costs. Go to a high street store, spend a bit more on it, but at least it will fit and be something you will enjoy wearing rather than wishing you'd never ordered this crap.

Diydress.co.uk

Thank you for your comments.
I am so sorry that you too have been ripped of by this company. I was advised by a good friend that under the Distance Selling Regulations 2000, that you have a 7 day cooling off period from the day the goods are delivered, this us because you ave bought online and have not had the opportunity to see the goods before purchasing.

If the goods are not fit for purpose you can cancel the order and return the goods to the supplier and demand a full refund. Diydress seem to think that this international law does not include them so don't expect a refund without a fight.

You can also try and get your money back by way of the "Chargeback scheme" through your bank. My case is being processed now. I don't know if I will be successful but anything is worth trying. Be warned that you will have to return the dress to diydress before your claim is processed.

As you know I have been trying to warn all potential diydress customers not to buy from this site. Today they threatened to sue me for slander and then said I was trying to extort money out of them because I asked for a full refund of the cost of the dress and postage. What a joke....or it would be if I ain't lost so much money.

The fight goes on, and I have spoken to many more unhappy diydress customers who are all in the same position. I felt i had to warn more people about this company so i have set up a Facebook page called diydress reviews if you want to speak to people in the same situation, let off steam or post your photos to warn others. If you search diydress on Facebook my page comes up first. They have blocked me from warning potential customers so this was my only option.

Please warn your friends about this company and warn them that most of the positive reviews are written by diydress themselves. They delete anything negative. Do not buy anything from diydress.co.uk

Margaret get in touch with

Margaret get in touch with your bank and ask them to raise a dispute with either Visa or MasterCard, which everyone supports your debit/credit card. Then as, the bank for a refund under the chargeback scheme.
The bank will ask you to send copies of all documentation ie the online order, emails etc and photos. They may also ask you to return the dress to diydress and send them a copy of the proof of postage. Don't worry this is the normal procedure. Just make sure you rake plenty of photographs of the dress and the faults. Good luck!!

You can see other diydress disasters and more support/ guidance on Facebook page Diydress reviews. Again don't worry ts managed by a group of very unhappy ex diydress customers or should I say victims.

big mistake!!!

I also ordered my wedding dress with them and what a disappointment!!

I was shocked when I tried on the dress for the first time and crying like a baby for hours.

The dress came too big and it was nothing like the picture that I saw in website. I asked them to give me a refund but they came back to me with bunch of rubbish and all they offered me was 10 pound for alteration. what can i do with £10???
Could you please advise what I can do now. I tried to contact Skrill that I paid them through, but haven't got a response yet.

I wish i visited here before ordering my dress. I might not be able to get my money back but at least I can help people by not doing the same mistak.

I'm having poblem with

I'm having poblem with Diydress too. and wondering how i can solve it out. I contacted my back and they asked me to return back the item. But i cannot find their full address. could you please help me with this. Regards, Yasamin

diydress

Hi you need to get in touch with your bank and ask them to raise a dispute under the charge back scheme. You will need to provide the bank with all correspondence between yourself and diydress, including emails and live chat. You will need to provide them with photos of the dress and compare it with the pictures on their website. It takes a few weeks but you should get your money back. For more information, advice and support come to Facebook page diydress reviews.

Wedding dress & bolero from DIY dress

Having booked a last minute wedding and only having 8 weeks to arrange everything, including a dress, I decided the best option would be to shop online for my dress, as my budget was also quite small and they seemed so much cheaper than shop brought dresses. I decided to use a UK based centre to reduce any risks of either not receiving on time or having a decent timeframe for any alterations, if required. How wrong could I be??! DIYdress.UK is certainly not UK based, my 'made to measure' dress was certainly not made to my measurements and the 'matching' bolero was white (my dress being ivory). Emails flew between us for a couple of weeks where they kept fobbing me off with the fact there was a lace up panel at the back, so loosen it!! The back panel did not even meet up! I gave up in the end and focused on getting a new dress as my wedding was only 2 weeks away, with the intent that I will cause havoc to their company on my return from honeymoon. I am now back and will do whatever is possible to ditch this companies reputation and ensure future brides-to-be will not have this added stress & upset by buying from this so called company. Added to this, I bought a new organza bolero from Berketex Brides (£195) to match my newly brought dress & after trying them on together, just did not match. I returned to Berketex to get a 'we don't offer refunds or exchanges' response. I am £500 out of pocket and have an un-used wedding dress & 2 bolero jackets. Where are our rights as consumers here?? It's absolutely destroying. I will certainly try the chargeback claim, as you have advised to previous individuals and will endeavour to stop these people ruining what should be the most magical experience of our lives. Thank you for providing this page to add my comments, I hope something can be done. Bridgette.

Diy dress

Hi guys I came across diy dresses last year I did ordered a dress and when it arrived it was stunning and quality was amazing for price but the issue was it was 2 big so I did email them and they said it was size I ordered I got confused as I ordered a size 8 and I am a uk size 8 so I had to pay £55 for adjustments but put it down to me so this year I have big event so ordered another dress of site costing me £250 as their new dresses and ordered it in size 4 uk size 8 and dress stunning but to small the dress is full of crystals and no dress maker will touch it I have measured my dress and it's 3 inches to small from size ordered its now Chinese New Year so they closed this dress I came across on another site it's a copy of an original to I have no answers till February gutted

Lucky escape from Diydress!!

Hi,
sorry to hear about all these ladies and bad service/stress and loss of money with diydress, not what you need when arranging your wedding.
I found a dress I fell in love with on diydress, ordered samples to see the colours and materials. When they came, less than a week, they do look a bit cheap.
Then I saw pictures of some of their clients and to be honest only 2 looked well fitted and made well. All the others looked too big, drooped in places, too tight etc. then I came across this site, to say the least, you have saved me a lot of money, thank you very much.
Like some of you have said they are not based in the UK and only found this out after I received the samples with all the Chinese writing on the forms. It still cost me about £18 for the samples but, you have saved me a lot more than that and no stress.....

Hope others see this before making any orders.

Thank you....

Was going to buy from them

Well you saved me hundreds of pounds. I am planning to start a small business and use them as a top up for dresses. I make wedding dresses and other dresses.

Refunds available if you paid with a debit card

Telephone your bank, this company is registered in London, paid in Germany. They make out they are in a the u.k but are not. If you paid with a card contact your bank they will work on your behalf and get your money refunded. Negative feedback is not allowed to be entered.

Prom Dress

I ordered a dress from DIYdress.com for my daughters prom, when it arrived it was horrendous, it didn't look anything like the pictures, I was so disappointed and what has upset me more is how upset my Daughter was. When I complained I was basically told sorry but tough. Am now £134.00 worse off with no money to buy her a replacement. It's so unfair that they can get away with this. I thought I was buying from the UK until the payment went through on my card and I saw the conversion to dollars. The website does not make it clear that it's overseas, or I wouldn't have ordered from them. Like the other review they are no longer returning my emails, I only wish I had seen this website before I ordered. Why can't someone do something so that this company can no longer sell in the UK? It's time someone did something before more people are ripped off!

Bought a dress. Received a tent

My Fiancée purchased a red dress from these people, and the person that did the cutting and sewing has done a dreadful job. I could pitch a tent and go camping in it. And your right, I contacted to complain and request a refund, and they said "We feel this is not a problem" and "If it fits like a tent, It's because you ordered the wrong size"..... Absolute idiots. They are trying to say that we ordered the wrong size. I have prepared a letter to send to trading standards, along with the chat log and E-mails. Even when I quoted their own Policy on the refunds page, they still deny the refund. This goes against the "Sale Of Goods Act 1979" and "Supply Of Goods And Services Act 1982". And with their most recent e-mail, they have opened a potential law suit against them for "Misrepresentation of product sold". Along with breaking the trading standard laws on refunds......

I have also noticed that their grammar and spelling is dreadful, which leads me to believe that this company is not in the UK

This company is run by Scam artists. DO NOT BUY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! EVER!!!!!!............

Please post this on your blog, as people need to know that this against the law.

Thanks

Diydress reviews

I'm sorry you've had to go through this.

It's been 12 months since they ripped me off. I created a group on Facebook called diydress reviews to try and help and warn others about this company. To date we have 124 members all of which have bought shoddy goods from diydress.

Diy dress are based in China, with a call centre in Hong Kong!!!!

You need to go to your bank or credit card provider and ask for a refund under the Distance Selling Regulations.
Quite a few of us have managed to get our money back, via our own bank.

Diydress have been reported to Trading Standards, Watchdog and to the police by all of us. So far no action gas been taken by them. We continue to leave negative feedback wherever we can.

Good luck with you fight x

Diy con people

I ordered two dresses from them a bridesmaids dress and an evening dress for the same wedding, the bridesmaids dress was nice but a little too long. The evening dress they made it too small at the bust. When I told them about this they asked me to measure it and take pictures ... I took a lot of pictures as they kept saying I was not measuring it correctly.. By this time around 20 emails were exchanged every time them saying I was not measuring correctly.. In one email they said they always leave in extra amount of material so the bust could be made bigger and if we wanted we could order another dress half price. I took the dress to a professional tailor here in the uk and she measured it and it was 40" at the bust and not 45" as we had ordered and what was on their label.. I sent pictures and diy dress replied that they use a size chart that no one else uses and what gives that person any verification or power to say the dress is made to 40" not 45"..to my knowledge 45" is measured in the same way by everyone around the world.. If I had given the wrong measurements then my other dress would not have fitted me . Then they say they can only offer me £5 refund! Going back on their word for letting me have a dress for half price! They will never admit their fault or apologise and they make you look like fools! I've asked this one question 50 times ! How can one dress fit and the other doesn't for the same person with the same measurements ?? They won't answer me! Stay away from this company ! They ridicule you and do not understand what good customer service is.. They should not be allowed to trade anywhere!

Diydress

Have you managed to get your money back from your bank or card provider?

I'm taking this Global.. And suing the company

This is a following to my comment before......
I am in contact with Sky News about this company. And I'm going to open a case against them..

I know their website says they are in China, Hong Kong... It's false. They are in California..
I have had their Phone Number traced and they are based in California...

I have contacts who have confirmed that they are running more than one website.
I will be suing the company on the following grounds.
1. Fraud
2. Misrepresentation Of Product Sold
3. Breaking The Trading Standard Laws Regarding Refunds That I'm Entitled To
4. Deception.

If I can get support to bring this Company down.. So that every penny stolen from innocent Customers can be returned in full...

They stole from my Fiancée... And I will not allow anyone to take advantage of her innocence.
They picked the wrong person to scam. And my job keeps me in contact with Fraud Investigators around the U.K... And I'm using their contacts to bring them down...

E-mail me at shadystraz360@gmail.com for your support

Thank you

Diydress reviews

If there is any chance of bringing diydress down then you would have the full support of Facebook page diydress reviews. A page set up to help people like your partner get their money back. The page is managed by disgruntled ex customers of diydress.

I have already contacted Sky

I have already contacted Sky News about this....

The address they have set up in Hong Kong is not their office or place of goods..... The address they have on the parcel they sent me is different to what is shown on-line as well...

This is why it takes so long to get it in the post, because they send it there, and then send it out to make it look like it is from China... I have also located another website that is used by these people...

www.dylanqueen.co.uk Is one of them.... If and when I find more, I will post them.....

I'm hoping other innocent victims could e-mail me their experiences that could be used against this company.....

It will make for a stronger defence. As it will show this isn't a one off problem....

I also have the assistance of DHL. They are going to trace where this parcel started it's journey from. Since it was signed for. So everything is Documented On Computers. And my tech has locked onto my laptop, so each time they e-mail me or i start a chat with them, he can track their location... It might take time because he is also in the U.S. (8hrs behind) So timing is a little difficult, but he is looking for similar sites running the same scam....

However long it takes..... I'm bringing them down!!!!

Thanks for the support... ;)

I am backing you up

I have dull documentation on how they tried to scam me. I eventually got my money back through my credit card but the process was an ordeal. They were so rude and they said the same thing to me as they do to other people : that they see no difference in the pictures. I'll send you and email now and let's keep in touch if I can help with the case.

Best of luck in bringing them down. I filed a complaint for the company but I am still seeing reviews on
http://www.reviewcentre.com/Online-Clothing-and-Accessory-Shops/DIY-Dress-www-diydress-co-uk-reviews_1695448
from people who are being scammed. We need to stop them.

Kind regards,
Alecs

DIY dresses B2c

My daughter's dress arrive this afternoon. We ordered this prom dress as she really liked it on the website despite the fact that we already bought a designer dress for the event. DIY provided us with a tracking number but DPD did not recognise the number. When I called DPD this morning they did have the number logged and the item ready for delivery so the problem may have been with DPD rather than DIY. It was with trepidation that we opened the parcel. To our delight the dress was exactly what we ordered. The custom sizing was 100% correct and the quality of the workmanship is far beyond anything I have seen in any high street store. £135.00 well spent. I am sure there are orders that do go wrong but I was prepared to take the risk and we were not disappointed. THANKS to DIY for your efficient prompt and friendly responses to my-mails as well as an exquisite and well made unusual dress

Awful

Hi All
Heres the emails which explains our situation so far:

Hello Angela
We recieved the dress today thank you.
Unfortunately it is not what we expected, the top half is lovely but sadly the bottom skirt part is not.
First of all the outer layer does not match the description of chiffon, it is more like netting which does not match the underneath beige colour of the dress.
My daughter tried it on and put on a brave face but cried. She was so disappointed and said she didnt want to go to her prom.
On the website the dress looks green all over but ours looks beige with thin green netting covering it.
Is it possible to return the dress as my daughter just will not wear it,which is so sad.
We have all the original packaging, labels and the dress has only been tried on once.
Hope you can help
Yours Sincerely
Mr David Howard

Dear David Howard:
Please be noted that the skirt is made of net and so many people has bought this style before but not this color, your dress looks beigebecause the color you choose the dress is mint as picture which belongs to light color. From the first picture you sent, your daughter looks stunning when she wearing this dress. I have escalated your case to my manager and have been told we can offer you a refund of 10 ponds after considering this issue, and we will also provide you or any of your friends a special discount when they need a dress in the future, much appreciate for your understanding.

Hi
I don't think this is a reasonable offer as first of all if she looked stunning she would not have burst into tears.
The description didn't say the skirt was beige neither did the picture indicate this. The description also stated the skirt was "A" lined which isn't, it's straight and the description also says it's a chiffon cover when it's netting.
Now by trading standards recommendations this is mis-selling.
I don't want to go down the route of leaving bad reviews on twitter, Facebook and your website but I may if we cannot agree on a full refund. Your website states that satisfaction is guaranteed which is another point.
Also if you feel this dress is stunning then maybe you can resell the dress?
Hope you will reconsider the decision and I hope to here from you soon.
Yours sincerely
David Howard

So far this is as far as we have got. No more replies from them!

Refunded

Hi,
I have now been refunded all my money.
Thanks.

DIY

Was gonna buy a dress from DIY but came across this and wanted to thank you for saving me 120 quid!!!!!

DIY dresses

My daughters prom dress came today from them and it looks fab. It's well made, it fits perfectly and it's the correct colour. I must be in the minority here.

dresses

I ordered 2 dresses for my wedding and I have still not received them (ordered 3 months ago). They are so rude and blame me for my loss. I will contact my credit card company tomorrow and claim the money back if this is the best way. Queenie is the worst bitch of all and none of them, previously mentioned, have manners. The dresses were dispatched from china but they are an American company. They say it is not their fault and I cannot complain. They insult you by asking ' can you check the post again?' Haha what a con this company is.

Do not order from DIY

I ordered a dress from here, all I can say
Is what a rip off!!!! There is a page on Facebook, about
This rip off site!!!

Do not use DIY dress!

I wished I'd listened to the reviews warning me off DIY dress. They are awful to deal with.
I ordered 3 flower girl dresses one of which doesn't match the other 2 since they have used a different material at the top of the dress. They then asked me to send them a picture to prove this, I did but they said they can't see any difference so they wont correct it. Then when my flower girl tried the dress on it was to small! They pretend to not understand so they don't have to correct their mistakes!
DO NOT USE THEM!!

Don't believe everything you read

Awful sorry to read all these horror stories about the experiences many have had! I ordered my prom dress a few weeks ago and after doing so, I started to come across all these terrible reviews! I've been on pins ever since finding them, presuming my dress will also be bad! However, I couldn't have been more wrong! I had my dress this morning and I absolutely love it!! It is slightly different to the picture on their website (Colour ordered was Pearl Pink but is more of a peachy pink, Gold and Silver detailing in picture but only silver provided) So I would advise anyone who does dare order a dress from them, may not get the exact dress as seen on the site. I am still overjoyed with my dress though and it seems really well made, fits well and is still quite similar to the one I was expecting. In summary, not all the dresses they do are bad, but I don't think I would risk it again.

Wedding Dress

I have just ordered my wedding dress from this site and I am praying after reading one good review that my dress will be ok! What dress did you buy? I am so scared that my dress will now be a disaster! I can only pray that it will be as wonderful as I imagine because the picture is stunning!

Do not believe the good reviews

diydresses.co.uk are Chinese manufacturers of low quality counterfeit dresses. The pictures on their website are from the original manufacturers websites and in no way representative of the rubbish they sell which will look horrendously cheap and fall to pieces upon use. They have invested a significant amount into writing fake good reviews to try and counteract the effect of the real ones. Once you receive the rubbish they sell they will only ever offer you a partial refund if that. After a lot of effort and threats they may tell you if you pay £30 to post the rubbish they sold you back to China they will give you a refund. Given they are a parasitic criminal business who are stealing other companies designs and modelling photos and then selling rubbish at a high price this is obviously just a scam to get the dress back so they can resell it. You have been warned - steer well clear. I feel for you if you have already ordered - the best advice I can give you is cancel your order now - although they will probably tell you they have already started to manufacture it or some rubbish.

Diydress.co.uk

Please every who has had the same rubbish experience as me report it to watchdog to see if they will highlight the scam, I sent my horror story to watchdog today! I can't believe they are still getting away with it, our dress arrived on Wed and is two sizes too big and looks nothing like the picture. We are perusing through our bank to get the money back but I have found another 9 customers who are as unhappy as we are, let's do something about it!
Jan

Terrible Terrible Terrible

I was very impressed with the choices offered on the website. I finally found the dresses, rather expensive but worth it. I provided my measurements as asked for, the measurements were done by a professional. The dresses turned up as long as the height head to toe, a huge mistake for people who perceive them selves as professionals. Furthermore, the dresses were nothing like in the pictures. I have contacted the company to try and resolve this but to no avail, they keep making silly excuses. I attach their excuse of a solution.

Dear Victoria Mubiru,
So sorry for any inconvenience. Please accept our sincerest apologies as we let you down. After consulting with our manager,we will refund you 15 pounds as compensation. We hardly earn a little from it and we spent much time and energy to make your dress.
Thank you so much for your understanding.
Sincerely,
Coco

I recently purchased a wedding dress for my wedding day it looked beautiful in the pictures however when it arrived it was horrendous and tacky, the bust was huge about 10 inches instead of 4 inches and the straps were too tight! I'd had it custom made and given the correct measurements so expected it to fit! I tried to return it and after many correspondents and emails from them where they tried to guilt trip us and make us feel sorry for them they finally offered £25 back when the dress cost £130! I assumed that the company was uk based however after reading this page have found out it's not is it based in China? I have contacted trading standards and will inform watch dog is there anything else I can do to try and get back the money? Thanks x jo

RE: DIYDress

Hi Noella,

Thank you for your comment. This page is actually a forum about the experiences people have had with DIYDress.co.uk, which we, White Wedding Pages, have no affiliation with at all. Unfortunately, I think it will be unlikely that they will reply to you via this page but hopefully some other customer experiences (as detailed below) will help you decide whether you feel this is a company that you would like to purchase from.

If we can be of any further help, please don't hesitate to get in touch.

Please do not use this company.
I ordered 5 bridemaid dresses that arrived yesterday. All the dresses are around 2 sizes too big. When i emailed the company they said i would have to re order 5 more dresses at £300 even though i have already spent £410. There is a no return policy so i can send these ones back i am now stuck with dresses that dont fit and they want me to order more. It is not a UK company even though the website is a UK one..They are based in Vhina.
The customer service team is very unhelpful. I wish i never ordered from this company.

my daughter ordered a dress

my daughter ordered a dress from this company, she paid an extra £10 so it would be delivered on time. It did not get delivered. We had to go to depot 50 mile away. Daughter was bitterly disappointed, as the dress was far to big, it was also 20 inch to long, also a different colour to the one she ordered. They have insisted on photos of dress which i have sent, they will now not reply to correspondence. not happy at all.

DIY dress - horrible experience - avoid this website - DONT buy

avoid this company! You do not recieve the any close to the picture they advertise. I tried to complain and ask for refund as the item is wrong and this what i got in respionce from several of their email:
"We are so sorry that we let you down. From the pictures that you sent us,the dress is beautiful. Why not try it on?As you know our dress sold in such good price.Even you buy a dress from a real shop,it may can reach your 100% satisfaction. Please consider reasonable. We have spent much time and energy in making your dress. As an online shop, we earn a little profit from one order. If you dislike the dress, you can sell it online to save money or give it to your friends. If you return it, the dress is useless. We think you must be stunning when wearing it.We would like to give you 10 pounds discount for your next order as we do want to keep long business relationships with you and make you feel a little better. The dress pictures are only for reference, because every dress is a new one."

The dress i recieve is nothing close to what they advertise, i would really advise not to buy from this shop. They just say the dress is still beautiful and you should be happy as the price for it is very low. Please avoid this website, otherwise you will lose money and had unpleasant experience.

I'm so glad I've just seen

I'm so glad I've just seen this as I was going to order my wedding dress and bridesmaid dress from them.  I've also seen another website called jjshouse, I don't suppose anyone has had any experience of dealing with them? Any info would be greatly appreciated

diydress

Hi,

yes i bought my daughters wedding dress from JJS house. It was beautiful but her choice was very plain. I've heard good and bad reviews so be careful xx

Using wedding dress sites on the Internet. JJS & DRESSFIRM.

hi

i have ordered my bridesmaid dresses from JJS and have just received them.  They are well made and look really lovely.  The colour is good but it is hard to guess it on Internet using a colour chart.  I actually requested a picture of the colour choice and Ithey did send me one.  I feel the colour could of been a little lighter but they are very nice anyway. The length is long if you are not 6ft tall but I did only requested standard sizes.

BUT BE AWARE. ,   There could be a payment request after you have paid for the goods.  Not jjs but customs,  for the import tax and delivery or customs will keep yr dress or dresses !!! U have to pay it.  This doesn't always happen it's just pot luck.  My charge was £ 97 extra, I have contacted jjs and they have offered to pay half of it, as normally it's only £30 max for 1 item.

i am so worried now about my wedding dress as I ordered it from dressfirm and to be honest I'm panicking, due to some bad reviews and the colour as I ordered Ivory , I just hopes its not yellow, il let you know how I get on.

IF Yr wedding dress means everything to you on ur wedding day spend the extra get it from a shop, less stressful and no hidden costs.  You have to pay the cost of the returning of any dress and the cost is normally more than what the dress is worth in the first place so it is a gamble on any of these sites.

long comments but wanted all to be clear before ordering a dress on line, I hope my dress is ok, fingers crossed.

cheers sam

In response to JJsHouse question

Last year I bought a bridesmaid dress from jjshouse to be part of a friend's wedding, and I was highly satisfied with the dress and my interactions with them. I lived in the USA at the time and had no trouble with customs.  I ordered the dress in a standard size for around $100, and then paid around $60 for alterations to the corset area which I always have to do due to my small, long waist.  All in all, everything was ok.  I'm currently browsing these reviews while looking for a wedding dress for myself!

A pleasant surprise after reading lots of negative comments

I am very sorry to hear so many people had negative experience with DIY dresses. However, mine is a story with a happy ending :)  I received my dress 10 days earlier than expected and am very pleased with the quality of the fabric and with the professionalism of the staff. I read some negative online reviews after placing my order and was very worried from the date of ordering until the day I received the package. Once I opened the package, I was relieved: the dress was beautiful and the quality of the work & material exceeded my expectations. It also fits perfectly  well - I still cannot believe it is possible to have a dress made to fit so well by ordering online!!! It is possible that I was lucky, but I am very pleased indeed. I was also surprised at the quality of customer service standards at DIYdress - every time I contacted customer service, I received a response very quickly and the staff were very supportive. I would recommend this company  based on my experience. Just make sure you keep in touch with customer service, raise all your concerns and get everything clarified in writing in advance! Best of luck!

Your dress from DIY

Hi, may I ask which model dress it was that you are completely happy with.
I was just about to order 10209612 when I saw all these bad reviews and your 1 good one.

returning a dress

how dose the charge back scheme work I got my dress two days a go same problem wont fit and the tailoring is crap I have emailed them and sent photos and there taking to long to get back

chargeback

You just need to call your bank and ask them to start the charge back process. They will need evidence the the dress is too small. So send them photos of the dress inside out with the tape measure across it.
Send them copies of all the emails.
Keep emailing diydress and demanding a refund. You won't get one but it shows your bank you have tried.

WARNING!!!

I would not recommend diydresses to anyone. I was highly disappointed with my order for several reasons.

 1. The dress arrived with two big ugly flowers covering one shoulder of the dresses which was not clear in the picture displayed on the website, at all. 2. I ordered purple and received maroon ugh. 3. Poor quality material. 4. Dresses fitted awful. Very low cutting and not faltering. 5. After sales service I received was unsatisfactory to say the least.

When I raised my concerns with diydresses at first they refused to do anything. Through countless attempts to resolve this issue (over a 4 week duration period) even just requesting two new dresses out of good will they eventually offered me £15 of the £170 I spent with them. The dresses were of no use to me. I was deeply offended.

I strongly advice future brides to be cautious when ordering from diydresses and Chinese firms. Clearly they do not have the same standards or consumer protection laws that we are familiar with in the UK.

I have now lost out on £170 and I had to order two new dresses for £200 from a local tailor. Please take care.

Diy dress scam

I unfortunatly bought a dress from Diy dress co.uk ,it has been a complete nightmare from start to finish !

The dress measured 4 inches too small across the bust so I had to complain and ask for a refund, the replys back from them were rude ignorant and down right insulting starting with an e-mail telling me the dress was quality checked by 10 people before dispatch so it must be o.k,followed by send us photo's of the problem only then to be told the photo's are not acceptable,so I asked them again and again for a refund as I am not a liar !

The next instruction was to sell it to a friend or on e-bay if I didn't like it as it looked stunning on me so they said ! that was a joke I couldn't even zip it up and the photo showed to gapping wide open at the back !

I was then told I had my arms up in the air on the photo (i was holding my long hair up ) and so it was my fault as people don't walk around with their arms up in the air! just unbelievable stupidness !

The next offer was for a "10 ponds refund "...which I declined then followed by "20 ponds refund" what an insult -I had spent £141.0

I then contacted my bank who started the charge back process but had to post it back by this point their final offer was "100 pnds"

Too little too late as today my charge back for the full amount came through luckily,NEVER BUY SO MUCH AS A HAIR PIN FROM THIS ROTTEN RIP OFF COMPANY !

Hi Anna Douglas my daughter

Hi Anna Douglas my daughter also bought a dress from Diydresses for her prom only for it to be too small and a different style, I am returning the dress for a refund of 110 euro (not full amount) the address they gave does not make sense so could you please print the address you sent your dress back to. I would really appreciate it. Thanks Hellen

Diy dresses

Hi there ,

exactly what you have described has happened to myself. I received my claimback this  week into my bank although diy dresses are disputing it and trying to get the money back, did this happen to you? Also did you have to return dresses to diy after you received your claimback?

Thanks in advance

D.I.Y dress have failed to

D.I.Y dress have failed to send my dress after 14days , staff is very unhelpful and I demand full refund instantly. Totally disgusting

BEWARE this company has no

BEWARE this company has no customer service skills I asked to cancel 48 hours after and you cannot! They state in FAQ section that a confirmation email will be sent and you need to confirm but this did not happen. 48 hours later I contacted them and they offered to refund shipping. This was £0 as my dress was over £150! Several rude email responses later and nothing of use. They are so rude and clearly do not understand what customer service is. Any other retailer would have to accept a return or at least exchange within such a time frame but these people refuse! They are even insisting I take a dress that I do not want! BEWARE

I paid for an express

I paid for an express delivery with the option provided received my dress 7 days after I was supposed to the purpose of the dress was not achieved cos I couldn't go for the wedding I bought the dress for. Now they have refused to refund the express money and am stock with a dress I paid £130 inclusive for now how can I ever be happy. I will contact my bank if I don't get my refund and compensation and I will take it from there. Thanks

Poorly made dress too small

never knew this company had been getting away with taking people's money and adhering to their own policy. I bought a dress which came too small and cannot get them to refund my money. Trading standards and face book  needs to involved, they need to desciplined

What an absolute joke!!

The site www.diydress.co.uk is an absolute joke, even that is an understatement. The online service are extremely rude and disrespectful. My dress came when I ordered the dress model:10206651 in royal navy blue for prom. I was shocked when I received a completely different design from the image and it was also a smaller than the measurements of the size 12 guide. Customer service were not much help as well as they were sending me images of a dress getting measured which was apparently my one, analyzing the image I saw that the picture had the date of 2011/11/5 in the corner, this can not be true because I ordered the dress on 27/04/2015.

Acting like a new customer I asked the support agent 'Jay' a few questions to which our conversation went..

Jay Tue, 05/19/15 10:07:40 pm Europe/London

Hello, Welcome to DIY-fashion, what can we do for you?

Client 10:07:42 pm

does the dress model: 10206651 come exactly as it is shown in the image in the colour dark royal blue?

Jay 10:09:36 pm

Yes

Client 10:10:05 pm

Are you sure?

Jay 10:10:17 pm

Yes, of course

Client 10:15:44 pm

In the comment a woman put up an image of her daughter wearing the dress, it does not look identical to the image.
why is this?

Jay 10:16:54 pm

Our web is Authorized by Google and Norton, you may check that, we have run dresses for many years, have sent out so many pretty dresses. You may have a look here: http://www.diydress.co.uk/testimonial/

Client 10:18:08 pm

That does not answer why the dress is different from the image which is shown to customers.

Jay 10:19:23 pm

But she like the dress?

Client 10:19:52 pm

But would I like the dress?

Jay 10:21:04 pm

i mean the shooting angle is different
So the dress amy looks different too
You see what i mean?

Client 10:23:45 pm

No, I do not see what you mean because on your website it says 'in fact, the real dress is better exquisite in workmanship rather than the picture on the site'. This is far from the truth.

Jay 10:24:11 pm

If the dress does not come right or not according to the order, after you try it on, you can return and have refund.

Client 10:24:19 pm

The angle should not make a difference from the actual design of the dress.
Do you see what I mean?

Jay 10:24:36 pm

I SEE
http://www.diydress.co.uk/testimonial/index/view/id/395/
This one?

Client 10:27:47 pm

Yes that one.

Jay 10:28:35 pm

Thank you for your chat. Feel free to contact us again.

Diy dress

I ordered a prom dress from them and I waited 2 weeks without them contacting me at all so then I contacted them only to find out they had not even started making my dress, so they gave me a £15 refund and started making it, then they made it seem as if my dress would arrive in time for my prom, but it didn't and so now I want a full refund and the person who I emailed said they can't issue me a full refund until the dress arrives so when it did they then said I should take it to a tailor. I sent them an email on Wednesday and they still haven't replied and it's Saturday. Also whenever I tried to call their number during the time they claimed their lines were free it ALWAYS said that " the person you are trying to call is currently unavailable" so there is no real way of contacting them which is sooo frustrating because I want all my money back. Is there not something we can do to get these people shut down?? Both their company and their deceitful website?!!

Diydress

Please don't accept any refunds from diydress unless it is for the full amount. This is how they mKe their money and how they stay trading.

Diydress

Hey, I'm in the same situation you have experienced with this company, I need to ask you did this company refund u ur money if yes please let me know what the process you take to take your money back.

Thanks in advance

Dina

staff are rude. they should

staff are rude. they should be ashamed. i am speechless at the dress that recieved today, it looked it it was from asda

Shirley

shirley in customer serverce is the rudest person ive spoken to, dont talk to that *****

Biy/diy?

Don't know if this is the same website and they have just changed their name, I've seen a lot of people saying it's called diy dresses, but I have come across a site called buy dresses, seems they may have changed their name??

do not bbuy

I am having to seek legal advice due to the company not refunding me. Even though I have photographic evidence of a sales advisor online promising me that if my dress was delivered and did not fit then I would receive a full refund.
I have emailed to and from and provided pictures and all the wrong measurements. The dress did not even fit my 8 year old niece it was so small around the arms. The material was not strecthy yet when I had asked if it was before purchase I was assured it was. Basically they told me whatever I wanted to hear to purchase and then have offered me £8 to refund for an £100 dress.

I have evidence and still now if you write to an advisor they will assure you that if the dress come and does not fit they will refund.

It is illegal what they are doing. The material was ripped and cheap. The built in bra which is just two pads sewn in were above my boobs by 2 inches. The dress bones- were non existant. The dress was of a poor standard and of no measurements to any UK size. They delete all bad reviews on there website aswell.
Eventually they just stop responding, so now I have to go to trading standards and write as many reviews as possible to stop people being victim to this. I promise you please do not buy!

really disappointed with appalling dress

I have just received a dress from diydress.co.uk which is so badly made and such a poor fit I doubt it would even be bought off the rail of a charity shop. It cost GBP90 which is a lot of money for me, and was meant for my daughter's wedding next year. The bust is cavernous, and the back is so narrow that the last nine 8 inches of the zip will not do up. As with previous reports on this site, I have had ridiculous responses from them, telling me to get the dress altered by a tailor at my own expense, ignoring the fact that this would require extra fabric and beading, and they will give a discount on the next dress. They acknowledge the dress is a bad fit, but are refusing to accept a return or refund. The width of the straps is wrong, and they are literally 6 inches too long - crazy, no person on earth could wear this dress and make it fit! After two weeks of increasingly obstructive and silly emails from them, I realise that there will be no refund.  Do not use this company!!

Many thanks to DIY Dress team

I'm so elated I found this site, the dresses are great and the prices are very reasonable and I'm really looking forward to ordering more from this site.

Diydress rubbish

I'm glad you think Diydress is a fantastic company.

But I ca assure you there are thousands of people out there that have had their dreams and special days ruined by this unscrupulous Chinese company who claim to be based in the uk.

their dresses are rubbish and their customer service is even worse.

to anyone reading this, please steer clear of Diydress and check out the review sites via Google.

I just stumbled upon these

I just stumbled upon these comments here. Pat, I have read your comments all over the place, everywhere, it's like you would not have anything better to spend the last years of your life with. Before ordering my dress from diy, I have of course researched around. I studied IT and digged deeper, which really isn't that hard @all girls...

You were always referring to scamadviser, which is an awfully simple tool, without any useful algorithm. I ignored that and I ignored your rant. With diy having about 35.000 visitors from google advertisements each month, the industry standard in sales conversion would be somewhere around 8%. Those are nearly 3000 sales, per month. And your self pity facebook group has now about 250 members, collected over a year?

I appreciate someone trying to share their opinions and experience, but you mam are on a totally different level of "warnings". Anyway, I ignored you because you seem to be an obsessed crazy social justice warrior. Which is okay, since it's my opinion to ignore you based on my findings. Maybe that is also what happens with others.

Aaaanyway - went on to order a dress, since the website said the pictures are only for reference I knew that I will get one that looks like it, but might be slightly different in colour, besides anyone with common sense should know that colors on the screen differ between devices and displays as well as cameras. A customer service representative told me that I should order a color/fabric swatch just to be sure, which I didn't, I needed the dress earlier.

What can I say about it... the dress arrived in Ireland without any issues, the customer service might not have been perfect all the way, but they have delivered me what I have ordered. I am very happy with my dress and that's important.

- as I said, I'm in IT, development and design, I have my own small business, a company registered in the US  - my server is in Germany and has .co.uk domain - scamadviser gives me 0% score, because for them, I seem to be all over the place. It's simply a bad tool in times where you get your server from the best provider, this case Hetzner.de - btw also awesome company. Would the company use a UK Address and UK Server - safe. Which they could if they would want to truly rip you off. Internet, you are too old for it.

- sizes, I see so many girls complain about those. But is it really the company? Or did you just gained weight in the 24 days? I know that I did, a pound or two, maybe 3 at that time and my dress was a good fit, after loosing those, the dress is a perfect fit.

- I don't even know why I am wasting my time here... sorry for being harsh, I just hate people who have no knowledge of IT or business - and you are one of them.

DIY Dress - would order again, but I needed only one dress in my life, I might get one to my own funeral though.

Diy dress

Jesse, if that really is your name and I don't think it is, you are a disgrace to woman kind.

how dare you insinuate that all the women who have had problems with Diydress dresses have put weight on since placing their orders.

i hope you enjoy your dress because somewhere along the line you will be the victim of one of these sites and you will need help trying to get your money back, which is exactly why my Facebook page was set up. Not just to warn others but to help them get their money back. And you don't need to be an "IT expert" to do that.

we are all entitled to our opinions based on our experiences so I suggest you stick to what you know   Which is clearly working for Diydress. Instead of criticising honest customer why don't you go back to Diydress and encourage them to make quality dresses of their own design and stop defrauding innocent hard working people out of their hard earned money.

clearly it must have bothered you reading my reviews as you appear to have done quite a lot of research on my page and my past comments.  Is this what Diydress have resorted to, visiting old complainants and criticising them again. Well this old bird doesn't care what you think. We both know the truth diydresses are rubbish. Now get a life!!!

You refer to the blogger as

You refer to the blogger as having nothing better to do with her time when it is obvious that it is you that has nothing better to do.
My guess is that you think it is buyers own fault if they are scammed and ripped off (maybe you do it yourself).
Don't sit there and criticise people for helping others.
You're attitude is an embarrassment to the human race.
Thank you Pat for warning others of the scum of the earth people that live in our society.

P.S Jessy no one cares about your business and that you think you know it all, it has nothing to do with this subject so go and brag elsewhere.

wedding dress

I ordered my wedding dress it is absolutely stunning and fits like a glove. I also ordered a bridesmaid dress to see how that would look and again beautiful. I am ordering the rest of my bridesmaids dresses this month. Live chat girl Shirley was very helpful and pleasant. I did however order a dress and jacket for my sons wedding and it didn't,t fit  , but I had put weight on, Now lost the weight for my wedding. But I would recommend this site and have done already.

Really Jessy??????

Firstly, i have not bought a dress form this website, and i must be honest that some ladies must have been extremely happy with their purchase, however, some customers have not. I am writing this post before i become one of the unfortunate women like Patricia, Marissa and Diane.

Jessy, you obviously work for this company - DIY dress.co.uk or you are somewhere on their payroll. Now its my turns to be harsh  This is a perfect example of a scam.

Until a few days ago i was seriously thinking about buying my Wedding Dress from this company....until i read all the reviews and guess what? miraculously all of the dress reviews have 5 stars!! yes, every single one.. Alarm bells started ringing!!  - is anything that perfect???

Let me tell you, I Iam a lucky girl, i have a budget of £1000 for my Wedding Dress, a higher budget then some Brides. The reason i decided to look at the DIY website, was because the first Bridal (highstreet) shop i went to, advised me that their brides normally buy gowns from them from £1400 plus - (out of my price range) and the dress i had my heart set on would not suit me (£940). I was also told, that you can tell when a bride wears a £500 dress from a bride that wears a more expensive design. (surly it should be how the bride feels in her dress, regardless of the price tag, she should she feel comfortable, the dress should fit well and she feels a million dollars - we all have our own individual ideas on how we should look.  Well, i was extremely disappointed but thought ok, i will look online to find other local Bridal shops in my area. This is when i found DIY Dress.co.uk.

I looked through the website and i thought, wow, these dresses are beautiful and at a quarter of the price - but then thought why are these dresses so reasonable? i looked into it further and found these reviews.

I'm no IT, Design or Business expert like Jessy, i just an normal down to earth girl who works hard and is saving for her big day. I DO NOT WANT TO BE RIPPED OFF!! regardless if it is £100 or £1000 -  it is our big day and we want to feel and look special!!.

Ladies, think long and hard before buying from these sharks, wear a bloody bin bag if you have to..remember your husband to be would still look at you and think you were most gorgeous and beautiful girl on the planet anyway.. don't put your hard earned cash in their pockets!!

diy wedding dresses

We looked at this site for my daughter as she saw a dress she loved. I looked at the various pages of this site and saw that it was based in China and that the gowns shown were for reference only. The photos are of designer dresses that cost thousands Of pounds and they are saying they will make you a copy. The girls who appear to chat all have English names to give the impression they are in UK. You can't help but be tempted but this is your big day you need to try dresses until you find the perfect one the one you can afford and the one that is perfect for you. I have found Wedding dresses from £150 -£350 in bridal stores that are beautiful -so don't buy from these sites. Truly sorry for all of you who got ripped off and their special day ruined.

Diy dresses

Hi everyone,

I run an awareness campaign called Brides Beware www.facebook.com/bridesbeware.

We are always interested to hear your experiences of ordering dresses from Chinese sites. If you can have any info or advice to give brides please message us or email. We also love to see your photos so we can inform others.

Thanks so much!

Re: ****** who are just thieves with obedient con artist staff

What people need to realise is that unscrupulous companies like diydress, actually pay people to come onto websites like this one as well, to post the "odd good review" that will tempt one or two people into believing they'll be a lucky customer. The postive reviews on here stink of fraud and BS. I think we need to really remember that for the most part, we get what we pay for...don't gamble with important occasion wear. Don't be taken for a mug. Steer well clear of these malicious thieves.

I ordered my prom dress over

I ordered my prom dress over a month ago, after only reading positive reviews on the internet. Sadly, I never found any websites like this warning me not to buy from the website. I have tried the online chat with "Shirley" over five times and whenever i mention that my dress is very late she cuts the chat off!! Extremely rude and poor customer services. Starting to get very worried as I really want my dress to be lovely (if it ever arrives...) as I have fell in love with the picture of it on the website...

I ordered a bridesmaide dress

I ordered a bridesmaide dress from diy, once again all reviews good! I gave them the messurment they asked for! The dress arrived and was way to big! And it looked horrid nothing like the picture! I emailed them, they asked for a picture of the dress, i sent this! They emailed back saying i must keep the dress and take it to get taken in! I said no i want my money back! They emailed back and said i must keep the dress and they would give me discount on my next order! I said no i dont like the dress why would i want to keep it! They then emailed back and told me to sell it!! I am just so glad i did not order all my bridesmaid dresses! £120!! Not a great start to planning my wedding noone is going to buy this dress for £20 let alone me getting my money back!

Never buy from diydress

I've recently purchased a prom dress from diydress on line shop,

just want to warn anyone, the quality is shocking, 2 sizes to big, and diydress want even exchange or refund, I've every intention on taking this to trade and standards. Con artists.

got my measurements ready to

got my measurements ready to give you and i am so shocked to read all the complaints about the shoddy goods. am knocked for six i picked my dream dress, and dont no if i should risk it now

Thank you

I am so pleased I found this site. I have a dress for mother of the bride in my wish list along with a hat. I always look to find reviews on companies now; to make sure I am not getting ripped off!

Two years ago I had a terrible time with another company called Eric dress; I ordered a winter cape coat when it arrived it would have fit a young 8 year old, they would not take it back, luckily I had paid by PayPal it took time, but I did get my money back. Thank you for all you ladies for writing your reviews to help people to find out if they are getting ripped off. The dress and hat are coming out of my wish list now !

I ordered a Mother of the

I ordered a Mother of the bride dress. It came 4 days later than I paid for and it doesnt fit. I contacted diydress straighaway only to be told I need permission to get a refund and they wont give it. Advised to take the dress to a local tailor to sort out. I spent £117 on a dress that I cant even get my arms in. I told them I am taking legal advice so far no further response from them and they deleted my comments on their fb page.

I lost wieght around 10lbs

I lost wieght around 10lbs and my dress still doesnt fit. I cant even get my arms in it. How rude to suggest thats why dresses ordered dont fit. Shoddy workmanship shoddy customer service and ripping people off.

nice dress, but the wrong dress

Like others here, my dress is way too small.

I waited a month for it, but I had the time, so that's ok.

The main problem is that I specifically requested a particular alteration - plain sleeves and not lace.  THis was to make the dress match other bridesmaids dresses that are all plain.

the dress arrive with no personalisation at all and looking just like the picutre on the website - it would appear to be an off-the-shelf item.   It also appears to be  standard size and it doesn't fit me properly - despite sending all my correct measurements.

That said, it is a lovely dress so my advise would be - if you are a standard size and you want the dress in the picture, then go ahead.  BUT if you are an odd shape and need particular measurements (in my case a lot bigger around bust and shoulders than waist), OR if you need specific alterations then don't buy.

I have complained via the  chat and been told to send an email - which i have.  I have no expectation that they will do anything useful, so do expet that i will have go via the credit card.  Luckily for me - it won't be a dispute about the size, but about them not making the dress without the lace.

Diydress are a fraud team

Diydress are a fraud team ordered dress for daughters wedding sent measurements and money and they send dress smaller tried to contact them and they say measure this and that eh I sent u measurements then tell u to send another £90 and they will replace it No just give me money bk they said give £8 that's all dress is worth well all I can say they are scum

DIY DRESSES

DIY DRESSES

Please DO NOT buy from this company, I read many reviews god and bad and seems from there website and testimonials.

I received my dress after 3 months when they said 30 Days, this left me with 8 weeks before my wedding. I now have to see if a dressmaker can alter my dress.#

Firstly it measured at a size 6 and I am a ten, I had it custom made so the size would be a perfect fit.

Emailed after sales and the response was that I measured the dress and therefore they did as I asked.I advised them it was not correct sent them pictures and they said they will give me a discount on another gown. I advised I get married in 8 weeks. I have since been ignored by them.

They give you a phone number but it does not even dial.

Don't suffer my fate DO NOT ORDER from these people, the reviews which are good must be made up or they are paying someone to write them.

Disgusting company and should be reported to Google and trading standards.

DIY DRESS.co.uk

My dress came 2 days ago...

1) The packaging was in tiny plastic bag that you would expect if you bought from an auction site.

2) Creased to death, no tissue in the packing. - And the creases wont steam out.

3) Poor quality of workmanship - embroidery was not sewn properly and  the netting looked like it had been sat in a dusty warehouse for years without protection.

4) Most importantly; they had made the waist too big so the whole bodice looks baggy! I have proof of the measurements and emailed them immediately, its been 48 hours and had no response. Judging by every ones comments I feel ripped off/scammed/disheartened and skint! - Pre sales couldn't communicate quick enough in the early stages; DO NOT BE FOOLED!

DO NOT BE TAKEN IN BY THIS COMPANY THEY COULDN'T CARE LESS THAT THIS IS YOUR MOST IMPORTANT DAY I AGREE WITH THE PREVIOUS POST TRADING STANDARDS SHOULD BAN THIS COMPANY FROM ADVERTISING

NO WEDDING DRESS ON THE WEDDING DAY!!

I ordered a wedding dress from this company assuming its a UK based company only to find out later that its a Chinese/Hongkong based company and was shocked when I read reviews here .

I ordered the wedding dress and accessories on 6th of March and I explicitly stated that I needed the dress and accessories before my wedding which is today 26th of March.

I was told to pay extra so the dress plus accessories to be delivered before 23rd of March. I contacted them via email and they gave a fake PDP delivery tracking number.

Its my wedding day today and I dont have the wedding dress. I'm distressed by this whole experience. I went to their website and was told via chat that I they needed the order number only to be told that the dress will be delivered in 3 days from today.....I should point out that TODAY IS MY WEDDING DAY!!!!

First of all I want full refund immediately because I dont have a time to deal with Chinese legal system of suing this company. In the meantime does anyone know how I can get my refund back?

You poor thing. I hope you

You poor thing. I hope you found something nice to wear that you were happy in and that you had a lovely wedding regardless.

I hope you paid for the dress with a credit card. You can start a dispute via the dispute/fraud team and they will help you get a recharge.

Good luck!

This exact thing happened to

This exact thing happened to me the only difference being is that my wedding was on the 25th! When I asked where the dress was the said it will be sent in the next few days, and even though they knew the date of my wedding the still sent me the dress!

i received my dress the weds after and can't get a reply from the after care team! I haven't even opened the dress to look at it I just want to send it straight back!

im going to contact my back and see if I can get my refund through them. Fingers crossed! Hope you get yours sorted!

50/50 chance of getting what you pay for

Ordered 7 flower girl dresses, first 3 came and were perfect- exact match to image and correct size. Next 4 came however they loosely resemble the first ones, silver and light blue sequins rather than silver and navy, embroidery is black rather than navy, no beading to be found and embroidery is a rushed and simplistic design -different to the first ones.
My wedding dress was perfect and 3 flowergirl dresses were amazing shame other 4 don't match and now have to go buy 7 new ones- after spending almost £450 on the perfect design on this site.
My order has proved it's 50 / 50 chance of getting what you have paid for.
Currently being ignored by their after sales team after being told that they cannot see anything wrong or different between the 2 sets of dresses.
Since looking closer at their website the pics of their sales team have turned out to be photos they clearly found on Google ( found 2 of them to actually be semi-famous people and one comes up on many sites labeled picture of pretty blonde when I have reverse image searched them).
Suppose my fault for not properly looking into company before ordering from them, unfortunately I only started looking into them after I had placed 3 orders and put all hope on fact that I order things from China quite often over Ebay and have never had any problems.

I couldn't believe my luck

I couldn't believe my luck when I found such amazing expensive looking wedding dresses so cheap on this site. I was about to place an order but found it quite suspicious when there where 45 5 star reviews on there site so I looked for more and found this site. So glad I did I will not be ordering from diy dresses. How terrible to put people through this. I'm not taking the chance. Thank you

they are scammers

I have been seeing this site advertising everywhere and had great reviews but my experience is quite the opposite.

I contacted them to see if they can do the wedding dress I really like. Their pre-sales customer service confirmed they can do the dress. Just to make i tried chatting with different people on different days asking if they can do the dress. All of them said YES, WE CAN MAKE THIS DRESS EXACTLY FOR YOU.

In short I decided to give it a go. After paying someone contacted me saying they cannot do the dress and i have to choose a different dress. I told them I do not want any other dress if they cannot make it I would like a refund.

A person named Queenie kept coming back to me only saying I have to choose another dress. I am very very upset because they do not want to give my money back and until now Im chasing them for a refund and I am sure I will get the same response.

SO WARNING, DO NOT BUY FROM THIS SHOP. THEY ARE NOT GOOD PEOPLE. THEY ARE BLOODY SCAMMERS

diy dress disaster!!

Hi i did exactly the same found the beauiful dress of my dreams to wear on my wedding day! When it arrived totally different from the picture doesnt even flow nice! There is no sleeves and a disgusting noticable zip on the back when its meant to be buttons! Ive been emailing the after sales team for over a week now about returning it for a full refund and im getting no where!! All they have offered me is £15 to go to a seamstress to alter!! I have been to see a seamstress and there is nothing that can be done to make the dress look nice! They made it too big on the hips so needs to be taking in 3ins!! The seamstress can take it in but would cost me £50! She said the back is awful very jagged edges on the lace badly made!! I will keep trying for that refund but i dont think it will turn out well! Im tempted to sale it on really cheap to get it out of my sight!! DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM THIS SITE!!!!

Hi, I have ordered the

Hi, I have ordered the wedding dream dress for my daughter and i received a pile of rubbish too just as you mentioned.

Diydress.co.uk

My mum order 7 bridesmaid dresses of this site spending just under 700 pounds . She paid to have them made to fit to measure the dresses came in the wrong colour and 6 dresses are way to small and one way to big. One dress is to fit a size 14 to 16 and me one of her bridesmaids a size 12 can't even get it done up. I have emailed them and there response was we must have got the measurements wrong and that it would be to stressful for THEM to except a return and refund her money. Stressful for them how do they think my mum feels with only 4 months left till her big day. I replied to there email about going to trading standards and they have ignored me. This site is ridiculous I would tell everyone to stay clear of the site

DIY dress disaster!!

I wish I had read all these messages before ordering from DIY dress, I have a similar story. I ordered 6 bridesmaid dresses from them, 3 berry and 3 lilac. 2 of my bridesmaids were pregnant and they told me they could make the dresses in to maternity no problem, which I believed as there website looked really professional, with a UK address and lots of positive reviews. The dresses arrived after 6 weeks but they had sent 4 berry and 2 lilac, and the shades were nothing like the picture - they did nit compliment each other like they did in the picture. The measurements were all over the places and the cups in the dress were huge!!! My pregnant friend is 4'8" with big boobs and even the cups on her dress were HUGE AND THR LENGTH was about 4" too short! None of the dresses fit and none of them matched up with the measurements I gave them. When I complained and asked for a refund I was told their factory had wasted a lot of time and a lot of stress on these dresses and the best they could do was to re-make the 1 dress in the correct colour but I would need to pay for it!!! We have been going back and forward for the past few weeks like this and I have got no where - the best they have offered is a £30 refund and absolutely no apology for getting the order wrong!!! Please DO NOT buy dresses from these con artists you will be very disappointed!!

Hi. Finally thanks to my bank

Paid by credit card - Get your money from your bank

I ordered a bridesmaid dress from day dress for my wedding. I thought I would try one before ordering the others. It came and the material was terrible, cheap something you could get from a £5 dress shop not the £100 I paid for it. Did not even look similar to the online image.

On their website it says that if you are not completely happy with your purchase you can get a refund if you tell them within 7 days. I contacted them the very dsy the dress arrived.

They refused a refund, even told me to sell it on eBay to claim back what I had lost, after about 15 emailso back and forth they eventually offered a £10 refund and expressed how THEY would be stressed if they took the dress back and gave a refund. It was absolutely ridiculous. These people are soulless.

Anyway during the course I contacted my back, luckily I paid by credit card and they saw that DIY dresses did not stick to their promise of a refund and gave me back all my money. I had to write a letter detailing what was wrong and that I had offered them the dress back.

So I urge you all to contact your banks as I am sure the fraud team are aware of this company by now.

Hi I recently ordered from

Hi I recently ordered from DIY for a dress for my school prom and it arrived horrible with wrong size, different material and definitely not the dress I thought I was ordering. I have asked and asked for refund but they are telling me that I am wrong and not getting refund, I seen that you were able to get your money back via the bank so what do I need to do in order for me to get my money back? Thanks.

DIY DRESSES - DON"T

How I wish I'd read your blog before I ordered.  It is a hard learned lesson - always check what is said in blogs before ordering from overseas supplier.  I paid over £200 for two outfits and both are a disgrace.  The bust size in both is wrong, the bust fitting is higher than the armhole - who knows any woman on the planet whose bust is this high?!  The quality is unbelievably poor.  The fabric is not the best quality, but the tailoring is a disgrace.   Both are unwearable and fit for the bin.  Currently they are offering £9 - really!

They are a shameful company, do not use.  You might as well set fire to your money.

We ordered a small dress for

We ordered a small dress for my granddaughter to wear at wedding. The dress came. They had charged the same price for a child's dress. The dress was fine in length but the top was made for a 6year old child .the arm holes were down to the waist also the neck . As it was so neR to wedding we had to pay to have the neck and arm holes made smaller. I contacted dud fesses and they want pictures of how dress was. I have none. So they will not do anything about it. They say dress was made to our measurements. But we were asked for chest 20is we wrote but did not expected the neck and arm holes to take up most of the top as the were so big.

Do not order from diydress I

Do not order from diydress I am ripped off by £240 and my daughter's wedding in a few weeks no dress because of this set back and when I emailed them they blamed me that it was my fault of not telling them the right details but I'm trying to understand how is it my fault that the sizing chart is wrong and the dress is all stains they are very complicated and not helpful at all i want a refund but they said there is nothing they can do .

l received a bridesmaids

l received a bridesmaids dress for my granddaughter who is 6months old. The dress had no netting and no buttons down back. The top had large arm holes and neck. As it was only 2 days to wedding we had to pay tailor to redone top of dress so baby could wear it. They charged the same price for this dress as a child's dress. I contacted day dresses about this, they asked for picture , I told them we had,had dress re done. But sent a picture of it how it should have been. They replied dress is ok for two year old. I sent so many emails to someone called Queenie and went round and round in circles , then they offered me £8 refund. Then took it back. You can get know we're. On face book I wrote comments and others now are doing same. We must stop this company selling dress not as advertised and then refusing to refund. There policy for refund says they will refund if partially if dress has to be done by tailor. But they are not keeping to there wood.

DRESS COMPLAINT

So so disappointed! I ordered this dress for my end of year prom and now I'm not able to go as the dress is completely different to the picture. The measurements are wrong and the material is thin a see through.

Please don't buy from this site, you will regret it!!

I recently purchased 3

I recently purchased 3 bridesmaids dresses from diy dresses in ordered them 1 size up from their size chart but to my disappointment they don't fit ...I've contacted diy dresses several times with no joy ..they asked me to send pics to show where the problem was & also proof of measurements of dresses in which they measure smaller than their size chart ..they have never got back to regarding my emails ..I've paid £281 for these dresses not a happy person Why have a returns policy but don't accept returns

I purchased a dress a 5 year

I purchased a dress a 5 year could make. The collar flips up the skirt is nothing like as shown in image and its horrible. I paid 140 and offered a 10 pound refund. Shocking especially when yrading laws state you can have a full refund if the goods are not like as ordered. After reading all the negatives comnents and diasters people have had i totally regret paying for a dress so poorly made.

Dress ordred is a joke - will only refund £10

wrong colour, wrong size and missing lace hem with holes and DIY dress are saying its the lighting and the dress is made to a good standard - refuse to budge - copied trading standards........dont know what else to do - ordered for Daughter for PROM - so disappointed and fuming!

Mother of the bride dress

Everything you say is what happened to me.  The dress looks like a fancy dress costume, the measurements are incorrect and the style and colour are shocking.  I have been offered £15 which I have rejected when the dress cost over £130.  I too thought that this was a UK company, but the replies that are sent by e-mail are not even in proper English.  Please do not use this company.

Thanks to all

Thanks to all of you, I just thought about ordering from this site, as I had written the name of company to google I found this pages and was disgusted of diy dress. Thanks once again!

dress

I am having such issues and wish I had seen this page before. ordered my dress from there and it has arrived completely mismatched in size and it has lots of faults with the lace etc. so so so gutted and they will not give me a refund after battling back and forth with them via email! they are so crafty. they keep trying to say they will only give me £15 for a £150 dress. i am so angry and don't know what to do!

jodie

I ordered 3 bridesmaids

I ordered 3 bridesmaids dresses, they arrived on time, they are the correct colour and sizes and are good quality, surely this can't be the same company, can it ?

Hi

Hi
