What a refreshing change for all wedding planners out there, to have the option of your wedding ceremony in the evening. Think of all those warm summer nights when it's still light at 10pm, sipping Champagne in evening sunshine. Or those cosy dark evenings with crackling log fires, lighted gardens and walkways, and softly glowing staircases.

This change to the Law - making it possible to be married 24 hours a day, will mean many more choices in how and when to stage your wedding ceremony and wedding reception.

If these new options interest you, make inquiries with your short list of wedding venues, and check if they plan to allow you late evening or early morning weddings. You'll also have to line up your other wedding suppliers and check if wedding florists, cake companies, make-up artists, venue decor companies, toastmasters and the like, will fit in with your wedding plans. It will mean earlier or later delivery schedules, but it's unlikely a wedding supplier will disappoint. Then there is the all-important celebrant. You'll need to liaise with your local register office and check on their policy for licensing requirements.

There's no doubt these changes will open up even more options for weddings, maybe reducing competition and costs. But the changes are welcome, coming out of demand from couples wanting even more choice in planning the more unusual wedding.
