Wasn't the weekend lovely? Sunny days and things to do. Everyone spending time with mums, daughters, sons and grandmothers.

I travelled north to spend time with my daughter. We visited the beautiful seaside fishing town of Whitby and ate good old hearty pie and mash, downed with a cup of good Yorkshire tea. The sun was out and the air was bracing, to say the least. Seeing all the families stepping in and out of the shops: picking up little trinkets for mums and bunches of flowers everywhere, it reminded me of families and their importance. As brides and grooms embark on their new lives together, joining two families together and all the overspill new relatives and friends, means a richer life once marriage takes place, for most of us.

Marriage as we all choose to know it is about love, life-long companionship and a stable base to raise children. The legal aspect of marriage is to protect property and money, and that legal understanding is still applicable in the courts today, should a marriage break down. But let's not go there, but instead remember that marriage is intended as a permanent 'til death do us part' commitment within which to live securely for a very long time.

For those who are just about to start on this life-long journey, White Wedding Pages, wishes you all the very best in your future together.
